I'm here for you if you have a great idea for a book, newspaper column, media release, or blog but feel stuck when you sit down to write it. Maybe writing is not your thing, and you’d rather focus on another area of your business. After a quick chat with me, I will get to work on your writing tasks and deliver exactly what you need — and get it back to you quickly.
I work with people from all business areas, creatives, academics, and I am especially interested in working with people with learning difficulties. I help many clients with disabilities express themselves through the written word.

I genuinely like to get to know my clients so I can best speak in their voice and express their values, ideas, creative concepts, and business services through their content.

You don’t have to feel shy to express your ideas or your creative writing. I have seen all sorts of rough drafts from scribbled ideas to a stream of consciousness…even voice notes. Whatever form your ideas are in, we will make it work.
Vulnerability and honesty: I am open and honest, and I will give you genuine feedback on how we can proceed with your project and welcome your feedback in return. Before we begin working on a project, I will let you know if I have the capacity to take on your project and meet your deadline.

I'm Elaine, your friendly and professional wordsmith, ready to help you with your editorial project, however big or small.
I am especially passionate about helping small business owners grow their business through clearly expressing the great services and products they have to offer their customers. I enjoy learning about your business and your clients no matter what your speciality. My clients range from business owners to book authors and academics — and everything in between.
I have worked as a journalist for international, national, and local newspapers, magazines, and websites. I have been managing editor of an international travel publication working with dozens of writers across the globe, and the editor of a daily Australian masthead.
I have been a media adviser for all tiers of government, and a parliamentary adviser to an independent Victorian MP.
I was born and raised in Ireland and moved to Australia in 2010. While I am based in Melbourne, Australia, I work with businesses, authors, and academics all over Australia and Europe.

▪️ Racing around Melbourne on my bicycle. I ditched the hipster variety for a hybrid road/mountain bike during the great lockdown of 2020 and there’s no stopping me now. I’m resisting the urge to upgrade to an electric bike. In a dilemma of whether it’s cheating or just a great idea when lugging a laptop on your back.
▪️ On the banks of the Murray or enjoying the beach or hot springs on the Mornington Peninsula — a combination of good friends, family, fresh air, and clean water is a good day for me.
▪️ At a good comedy gig or a storytelling event.
▪️ Still probably tapping away at my laptop in a library or country retreat expressing my own creative side and writing outlandish fiction that will never see the light of day.
▪️ Getting my zen on in a park or meditation group. Meditation, relaxation, personal development, and generally keeping chill are vital to my wellbeing. I enjoy keeping healthy both mentally and physically.
▪️ Exercising at dawn. One of the best parts of the day for me is the morning. I wasn’t always a morning person — and don’t even think of saying hello to me before my first coffee — but now my morning routine is my life. There’s nothing better than some light exercise first thing, savouring that morning coffee, and getting some life admin done before the workday begins.
